HEALTHY SLEEP! PART 2

How did you go with our part 1? Hope your spouse has since become a little more forgiving of your snoring!

Ok now to a little more dangerous one

CENTRAL SLEEP APNEA (CSA)

Although a less common type of sleep apnea this is when your brain fails to transmit signals to your breathing muscles OUCH! This is a disorder in which your breathing repeatedly stops and starts during sleep. It’s not that you can’t breathe which is true in OSA (obstructive sleep apnea) rather, you don’t try to breathe at all. Your brain fails to send the message!

You see, the brain is one of the largest and most complex organs in the human body. It is made up of more than 100 billion nerves that communicate in trillions of connections called synapses.

One of the connections is the stem which is in between the spinal cord and the rest of the brain; basically this controls functions like breathing and sleep. With Central Sleep Apnea this is the area that is affected and in infants, CSA produces pauses in breathing that can last 20 seconds.

And this will definitely diminish vital capacity (Vital Capacity is the maximum amount of air that a person can expel from the lungs in one breath).

Unfortunately the obese male gender is the most likely candidate for this disorder and when I say this I am thinking SEE… LIFESTYLE DOES PLAY A HUGE PART! However anyone can suffer from any type of sleep apnea.

This has a tremendous effect on your body and is definitely not a nice thing to endure suffering from. Some of the ill effect associated with CSA (central sleep apnea) are:

Congestive heart failure

Hypothyroid

Kidney failure

Neurological diseases, such as Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, and Gehrig’s disease

E7 believes that by strengthening our bodies and fostering a healthy lifestyle with a positive attitude ILLNESS has little or no room in it and that things are a lot easier and more manageable when we face things like OSA or CSA or MSA
