Sleep Apnea! PART 1
We take it for granted when we have it but what happens if you suffer from SYMPTOMS that affect the quality of your sleep
Do you snore?
Does your wife or husband have to elbow you to roll over?
Are you excessively tired during the day?
Have you been told you stop breathing during your sleep?
Do you have raised blood pressure?
Is you neck size greater than 41 cm (female) or 43 (male)?
Did you just tick all of the above? You might be suffering of ‘Sleep apnea’
Please note:
That these symptoms might not be related to sleep apnea and we strongly suggest some lifestyle changes before you assume you suffer from this disorder, if you feel as though you may be a sufferer we recommend that you please consult your doctor, especially if these symptoms seem to persist
What causes snoring?
When the muscles in the back of your throat relax too much, as you fall into a deep sleep, this will partially obstruct the upper airways causing them to become too narrow for enough air to travel through to the lungs.
This is known as OBSTRUCTIVE SLEEP APNEA (OSA) (We touch on CENTRAL APNEA here)
Snoring and sleep apnea are linked at an alarming rate – According to ResMed one of Australian’s leading companies in changing lives with every breath! – 3 in 10 men and nearly 2 in 10 women who are habitual snorers suffer from some degree of OBSTRUCTIVE sleep apnea.
Sleep apnea ROBS you from a good nights’ sleep, and at enigma7 we know how important this is in order to foster a healthy lifestyle.
We suggest:
To practice our breathing exercises to promote and change the way our bodies relax

To get onto a healthy diet if you are on the heavy side of the scale.
To allocate enough time for sleep… Yes as simple as it might sound your sleeping hrs are as much or more important than your waking ones, as they are a source of vitality and will affect the quality of the latter.
Create a healthy hygienic sleeping environment this means: NO LIGHTS, NO POLLUTION, NO NOISE, make sure your mattress and pillows are comfortable and clean.
Stay away from your electronic/digital gadgets for at least 30 min before you go to bed
